Inglewood bed and breakfast is located on a park near the confluence of the Elbow River and the Bow River , in a quiet residential area east of the Calgary Tower and east of Fort Calgary. A short walking distance connects with interesting attractions, as well as with the Calgary Stampede Grounds (with the Saddledome, Home of the Calgary Flames), the Calgary Convention Center, the Calgary Zoo, and down town shopping. Calgary is a vibrant city for business travellers and tourists, as well as a gateway to Banff and the National Parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The Inglewood Bed and Breakfast is a convenient and pleasant guest house, built and operated with a Bed and breakfast in mind. The surroundings of this Calgary bed and breakfast remind of a village in a country setting. Old town atmosphere with historical buildings blend with wildlife scenery along the Calgary Pathway System, where bicyclists meet with joggers and nature enthusiasts. This Victorian style guest home was built in 1993 through combined efforts of British architect Barry Robey, and the owners, hosts Valinda Larson and Helmut Schoderbock. Born and raised in Saskatchewan Valinda's ancestors came from Norway, whereas Helmut's roots are in the wine region along the Danube River in the Wachau valley, Austria. Both Valinda and Helmut are trained and certified chefs who bring with them good experiences from the hospitality industry. Valinda worked in several restaurants in Calgary and Helmut worked in several countries, including Austria, Norway, Bermuda, Japan and of course, Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Calgary). An interesting experience for Helmut was his job as chef on a passenger ship that travelled on the Danube River between Passau, Germany, and the Black Sea. Besides looking after their Bed and Breakfast, Helmut and Valinda enjoy good food, going for walks in Calgary, and hiking in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Helmut's hobbies include photography, tennis, racquetball and woodworking. A private entrance of the verandah leads to the guest dining room, where guests can mingle with visitors and catch up with e-mails and free internet access.
